Hi Shelly:
I decided to retain the services of
Shelly Goldman after my most recent layoff due to a company
merger. I was referred to Shelly from a gentleman I met
while participating in an outplacement program in 2002.
After a brief conversation with her, I sensed that she was
genuinely interested in making a difference for someone despite a
failing economy. It was after I explained to Shelly that
this was my fourth layoff in four years, that she offered me
professional coaching services. This enabled me to take an
inventory of my professional history, help me to recognize that I
really enjoyed doing, and what I aspired to do in the future.
Though I was faced with other challenges in addition to finding
gainful employment, Shelly believed that she would be able to help
me focus on finding the job I wanted with a company I respected
and admired. We engaged in telephone coaching sessions
weekly and she expected me to complete assignments from one
session to the next. She was firm with her request for me to
commit to the process and she helped me to see the value in taking
time to reflect on where I've been and where I wanted to go.
Once the goal was identified and I knew what I really wanted and
why...the path to secure the desired position became obvious and
it almost seemed more like the job found me rather that I found
the job!!! Shelly really helped me define my strengths and
weaknesses, to set a reasonable course for my job search, and to
believe that it was possible. Her dedication to coaching
comes through over the phone and her no nonsense approach yields
measurable results. She has a positive attitude when it
comes recognizing a client's ability to achieve what they want;
she has a real knack for keeping a client "on task;" she
demonstrates understanding when a client is grappling with their
situation; and she is most encouraging when she believes that a
client is seriously committed to effecting change and making a
difference. The final outcome, of course, is up to the
client! I am quite pleased with the coaching services
provided by Shelly Goldman and highly recommend her to friends and
acquaintance that need assistance in facing the inevitability of
change occurring in the workplace today.
